Mixing Jewish Religion and Dating

from Jsingles.com

This is talked about a lot among the Jewish community and some people outside of the Jewish community don't often do not take it too seriously, so if these questions are important to you, you must stress that importance to potential mates.

Many people in the Jewish community enjoy sessions with other Jewish people, but when someone meets another person outside of the Jewish community, tensions can mount, not all the time but some of the time. I have seen people literally get sick over the fact that their own people have betrayed their religion because they decided to get engaged to someone that is catholic or protestant. Back then it was very important that people married within the same religion, especially the Jewish religion but now it is much more lenient and people don't harp about it as much, but it's still a minor problem between some Jews that really take their religion seriously.

One of the major things to look after when mixing different religions are if you decide to marry someone from a different religion, you need to talk about which Church you would get married in and if you decided to have kids, what would they be brought up as? Many people tend to think that the women are always right, but in some cases the male might want their kids to be brought up with the religion he was brought up with. Before a Jewish person and another person of a different religion get married, they usually discuss this amongst themselves and their loved ones, especially their parents. As I said before, it isn't as common that we see this type of drama, but it does definitely happen and should be taken care of before anything more serious occurs.

Since there are many different types of Jews, new age types are much keener on the fact that their daughters or even sons date outside their religion. One thing that usually comes up at the dinner table is ''religion'' and if the non Jewish person is highly religious, there can be a difficult argument that would spark a few flares. You will see this type of behavior between the older generations of Jews much less then the younger generation.

Overall, our community around the world respects everyone. The Jewish community is amongst one the more tougher religions to get by, but at the same time they are extremely understanding, just like everyone else.
